Former US president George H.W. Bush defended his son against his detractors and said most of the criticism of the current American leader is "grossly unfair".
Breaking his typical silence on his eldest son's leadership, Mr Bush, 83, was audibly annoyed by questions about George W. Bush during a rare interview with USA Today.
"I don't reminisce with … my friends like you [the reporter] about what my son does or doesn't do," Mr Bush said.
But he continued: "He has my full, unequivocal support. I feel about him great respect for what he's doing and tries to do, and I think much of the criticism is grossly unfair. … That's a father caring about his son and his president."
… He defended his son's handling of the Iraq war, saying: "Do they want to bring back Saddam Hussein, these critics?"
